Webmail Service to End Beginning July 1
CFU.net Email Users Should Be Working to Migrate to a New Email Address Now
Cedar Falls Utilities will begin disabling @cfu.net webmail service in July. All users will need to migrate to a different email service before this time.
CFU contracts with a vendor to provide the CFU webmail platform and to host the service. Unfortunately, there are security, reliability and data backup concerns with the current email platform. Because of these concerns and free access to superior alternatives, CFU is eliminating email service.
Email Ending Schedule
Service will be disabled in phases, alphabetically by account holder last name.
- Account Holders with Last Names A-G: Email service ending July 1, 2025
- Account Holders with Last Names H-N: Email service ending September 1, 2025
- Account Holders with Last Names O-Z: Email service ending November 1, 2025
At the noted time, customers will lose all access to CFU email accounts and all stored messages.
Steps to Stay on Schedule
At this point in the process, users should have created a new email address to use, set up autoreply and forwarding, transferred your contacts list and transferred essential emails.
You should now be working to notify critical contacts and change your online account logins.
We recognize this is not an easy or quick transition and appreciate the time and effort this may take.
