CFU Natural Gas Rates
Residential Rates
Natural gas rates are made up of three components: the service charge, the delivery charge and the purchased gas adjustment (PGA).
Service Charge
The service charge is applied on each metered gas service. This charge covers CFU's costs associated for meter reading, customer services, billing, service calls and meter maintenance. The monthly service charge for residential customers is $16.55 per month.
Delivery Charge
$1.90 per thousand cubic feet (MCF) is charged to cover the cost of delivering natural gas to homes.
Purchased Gas Adjustment (PGA)
The purchased gas adjustment (PGA) reflects the cost of the natural gas commodity and its delivery to Cedar Falls. This cost fluctuates up and down based on the wholesale price CFU pays for the gas it provides to customers. CFU does not mark up what we pay for natural gas. The cost of the gas commodity is a pass-through to customers, so if gas market costs go up or down, so does the PGA. This component of the bill changes each month. If your billed usage occurs both before and after the first of the month, your effective PGA will be calculated for the number of days each PGA was in effect.

How to Calculate Your Natural Gas Costs
If a residence consumed 12.0 MCF during a month when the PGA was $6.5/MCF, the gas bill would be calculated as follows:

Commercial Rates
CFU has several rate plans for commercial customers depending on size of company, usage and number of meters. Commercial natural gas rates are made up of three components: the service charge, the delivery charge and the purchased gas adjustment (PGA).
Service Charge
The service charge covers CFU's overhead costs associated with meter reading, customer services, billing, service calls, and meter maintenance. The charge is a fixed amount each month. Please see the gas rate schedule for the charge for each commercial rate class.
Delivery Charge
A charge applied to each thousand cubic feet (MCF) of gas used to cover the cost of delivering gas to customers.
Purchased Gas Adjustment (PGA)
The purchased gas adjustment (PGA) reflects the cost of the natural gas commodity and its delivery to Cedar Falls.
