CFU Residential Rebates to Save Energy
CFU offers cost-sharing rebates to help residential customers install energy-efficiency equipment, make energy related home improvements and recycle old appliances.
Residential rebate amounts and efficiency requirements are listed below. Some rebates don’t require pre-approval and others do. Download the printable rebate application listed below for more information.

Appliance Recycling*
To recycle your appliances, you may either take them to the City of Cedar Falls Transfer Station or request curbside pick-up.
If you take your appliance to the City of Cedar Falls Transfer Station, remember to first stop at the service desk and pay the $10 disposal fee. Next, sign the city's log of accepted appliances. The city will pass your participation information on to CFU monthly. There are no additional rebate forms for you to fill out. You may also call City Refuse Services at 319-273-8629 to request curbside pick-up of your appliance for recycling. In that case, the disposal fee will be charged in the Refuse section of your next Utility bill. There is an additional $10 fee for pick-up.

Limit of 2 rebates per appliance type per account per year, appliances must be from facilities receiving electric service from CFU.
Heating & Cooling (HVAC) Systems & Duct Work

Thermal Envelope Improvements

You must use a professional contractor and you must receive pre-approval from CFU for thermal envelope improvements (exceptions noted below). CFU will pay incentives on residential attic insulation provided that the existing insulation level is less than R-40. Homes with R-40 or higher insulation levels will see little return on the investment in additional attic insulation. Rebates applications may be submitted for projects that increase the attic insulation up to a maximum of R-60.
You can use any licensed contractor to qualify for CFU's air sealing and insulation incentives.

Residential New Construction

Cedar Falls Utilities offers a new construction program designed to encourage homeowners to build new houses that are highly efficient and ready for the future. Eligible customers will receive all energy and communication utilities from CFU.
