CFU Governed By Local Board of Trustees
The Cedar Falls municipal utilities are owned by the citizens of Cedar Falls and operate on a not-for-profit basis for public benefit.
To ensure that CFU staff have the necessary leadership and tools to exceed customer expectations, CFU is governed by a citizen Board of Trustees.
Five CFU Trustees are appointed by the mayor to six-year terms and must be Cedar Falls residents. Each brings a unique background and skill set to the oversight of CFU.
Board members work diligently to develop a thorough understanding of the four different industries in which CFU operates - water, natural gas, broadband services and electricity.
The Trustees establish policies and set utility rates, review and approve expenditures and the annual operating and capital budgets, award contracts let through public bidding, engage in long-term resource and strategic planning and hire the general manager who oversees daily utility operations.
Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m.
The Board agenda is published on the Monday prior to each meeting and the public is welcome to participate.
