CFU Provides a Simple Way to Invest in Solar
CFU customers who are interested in investing in solar panels may find CFU's Simple Solar garden an attractive solution.
Simple Solar is a community solar project built and maintained by CFU near Prairie Lakes Park. The project offers a flexible and affordable way to invest in clean energy without the high upfront capital costs ongoing maintenance or concern about salvage value.
"Customers who invest in Simple Solar units enjoy benefits similar to a rooftop solar installation but can do so without maintenance or commitment" says Matt Hein CFU Energy Services Manager.
Simple Solar units can transfer with other utility services if you move within Cedar Falls.
As customers move out of CFU's service territory CFU buys units back. Those units then become available for purchase again on a first-come first-served basis.
Customers receive a monthly bill credit based on the energy output for each unit purchased. One unit is equivalent to a 170 Watt solar panel or about 300 kWh per year.
CFU customers who wish to purchase Simple Solar units for 2024 must sign up by November 1.
The purchase price for available units is $142 per unit and will be added to your January 2024 bill. Credits will begin on the February bill.
Contact Energy Services at 319-266-1761 or energyservices@cfunet.net by November 1 to sign up.
